Caleb's Birthday Party

We celebrated Caleb's birthday (February 25th) very early this year (February 4th) so that baby brother wouldn't disrupt our plans.  We invited friends and family and thought we would let our nearby park be the host.  Unfortunately, God had other plans!  The morning of the party it POURED down rain.  So we relocated to our house and squished everyone in.  How fun!

Caleb wanted a Veggie Tale party this year and because party supplies for this theme are hard to find, Momma ended up makeing most of them!  Everything actually turned out pretty good!

We also decided on cookie cake instead of traditional cake (because Kati thought it would be easier to decorate...and it was!)  Kati made two practice cookies the week before to get the recipe right and then made three for the party.  Two with frosting and one without.  They were delicious!  Of course, Kati could eat cookie cake every night right now, so she's a little partial.

We started the party by letting the kids color their pre-painted canvas goody bags with fabric markers.  Here are Lacey and Destiney with their mom and Ian at work with his dad!

Here's Caleb's finished bag.  Kati painted the words and Veggie outline for the kids to color in.

We played some games!

Like "Hot Tomato"  (poor Bob the Tomato was passed around the circle!)
Here are Allen, Ashton, Lacey, Caleb and Michael.

Then Kati read the story of Flibber-O-Loo and the kids threw pretend flowers (actually cotton balls) at each other and their parents.  Who says we don't have snow in Texas??? :)

Maddi didn't really want to get her Mom.

We finished up with a game of "Animal Freeze" where the kids pretended to be different animals until the music stopped and then became a new animal.  (Thanks Aunt Amy for the game idea!)
Caleb and Michael really got into being animals!

After a yummy lunch of pizza, veggies, and fruit we sang "Happy Birthday".

Caleb's gotten so tall that the stool made him too far away from the candles to blow them out easily.  It was pretty funny to watch him blow again and again!

What an awesome party for an awesome little boy!  Thanks friends and family for helping our soon-to-be-four-year-old feel loved and special!
